Explore Tai Chi with Virada of XiDao
(re)Discover Your Positive and explore Nature at Brooks Falls Loop! Enjoy this one-of-a-kind experience as we explore this ancient Martial Art in Beautiful Pacifica. After our practice we will venture on Brooks Falls Loop and conclude our Adventure with a nice picnic where we will share our experience and get to know one-another on a deeper level.
What to Expect:
Silk-Reeling Exercises are a set of repetitive spiral movements and joint rotations that relax the muscles and increase joint mobility. They emphasize rootedness, alignment and sinking. They also serve as drills to familiarize and train the body in preparation for the martial arts form – not unlike Mr. Miyagi’s “wax on, wax off” moves in the Karate Kid. :) The exercises get qi in the body moving - so, for instance, fingertips will feel warmer - hopefully even a shimmer of sweat lining the palm! All bodies vary, and some other positive benefits and after effects include reduced tension and stiffness, and calm alertness and lightness. Participants will gain exercises that they can do easily anywhere without any equipment.
XiDao means "practice the way," and it is where Virada finds her way as entrepreneur, storyteller, and Chen Taijiquan nerd and instructor. Virada grew up surrounded by elders and ritual, so old wisdom never felt "old." It was always alive and present, not found or (re)discovered. Virada is a certified Taijiquan (Tai Chi) instructor with the American Chen Taiji Society and teaches at fitness or community centers in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her mission in sharing Taiji is to teach busy professionals how slowing down movement will simultaneously release tension and build power.
